Tecler is a lawyer and holds an LLB and a Master’s Degree in Corporate and Financial Services Law from the University of Singapore. She has more than 25 years international experience in both the public and private sector.

She started her career in the Attorney-General’s Office in Zimbabwe as a Public Prosecutor before moving to the Legal Advice Division where she negotiated and drafted agreements at an international level.

She draws her experience in financial services from the time she worked for a bank as assistant company secretary and legal manager, a position she held until the formation of the law firm Gwaunza & Mapota Legal Practitioners in August 2006. Over the years, she led successfully numerous projects in various African countries, e.g. as legal expert for the World Bank, and is widely recognized as a well connected legal professional. However, her years of experience as a Public Prosecutor make criminal litigation an area of special interest for her with focus on money laundering and fraud.
